Hail to Vega!

Okay, I used the title to get the nerdy Contact joke out of the way.

The Vega Science Trust has a great little site with, I am sure you will not be surprised, videos. Interviews, workshops, mini lectures, and even printables to go with some of them can be found in the Schools section. They have interviews with Nobel Prize winners, too.

The site won’t win any design awards, but it works.

Should Everyone Be Streaming?

The social video thingy is bad enough, now it has to be live streaming?  Can any good come of this?

Ustream.tv is LIVE INTERACTIVE VIDEO FOR EVERYONE. Ustream.tv quickly and easily allows anyone with a camera to broadcast to the world.

I only have a couple things to say about this.  First, I don’t think that the majority of the population should be streaming video, for reasons that are quite apparent.  Most streams end up a snorefest or stupid-palooza.  Second, this could be quite useful with some technological improvements, which inherently means that it will end up serving those with nefarious motives.  People will need to learn to set up decent lighting and sound before this will become a popular thing to do.  With video, you can edit and/or re shoot if it didn’t turn out.  But you’ll not get that margin with live streaming.

Freetube – free free free IPTV

Freetube has an outstanding 50+ assortment of channels.

Free it is and while they do not address the legality of the site, they are quick to point out that they are experimenting with social networking, multimedia and technology. Which, in my mind says that they don’t know and don’t care to find out, or are in denial.

My experience there was pretty good. They had just done some upgrades, and although the picture wasn’t HD, it was watchable at a desk, for instance. The link I have here is the family-friendly-filtered version, because that is just me.  Seems they have a good handle on everything except how to get a better video in there, which I am sure they have limited control over anyway.

Online Magazines – no perfume samples?

Clothes, hair, make-up, accessories;   a human woman is an excellent canvas for art.

Check out these online mags - don’t forget to check your volume (there’s sound) and run the mouse over the pages for additional surprises!

The Internet is a close runner-up for my choice of art medium.   Wouldn’t you know there’d be a fix for all my addictions?  Check out netinspirationan online mag for web designers.

It isn’t often that I find the end of the rainbow twice in one day.

Thanks Mark!
